As a part of BEd curriculum, we conducted an field trip visit on 09/04/2021 from our college to kallar ecotourism. A field trip is a journey by a group of people to place away from their normal environment.we reached college at 6.00 pm. The whole trip was a splendid experience and gave us unforgettable moments to cherish for our life time.

Koyikkal palace

Valiya koyikkal palace, Nedumangadu was the royal headquarters of Perakom, one of the matriarchal branches of Keezhperoor dynasty which ruled over Venad. This palace stands as a unique example of the style of architecture which prevailed in Kerala in the medieval period. It is built in the shape of Nalukettu adhering to the rules of indigenous building architecture and is one of the oldest surviving two storied palaces of the Venad Kings. A large collection of house hold utensils, occupational implements, art objects, coins and weighing instruments are exhibited here.

Field trip-KALLAR WATER FALLS

Kallar is a stunning beautiful village,45 km away from Thiruvananthapuram on the way to Ponmudi. The brightly coloured pebbles and the boulders softened with ages of flowing waters in the crystal clear river of Kallar offer a beautiful sight.
At a distance of 16 km from Ponmudi Bus Station, Kallar Meenmutty Waterfalls is a magnificent waterfall located at Kallar village near Ponmudi, Kerala. It is one of the beautiful waterfalls near Trivandrum and among the must-visit places to be part of Ponmudi Tour Packages.

Surrounded by the mountain ranges of Western Ghats, Meenmutty waterfall is a small waterfall formed over the Kallar River. Although the waterfall is pretty small in terms of height, the place gives a glimpse of natural beauty that attracts a large number of tourists every year. Numerous small natural pools are peppered near to this magnificent waterfall. One can find many attractive, round-shaped boulders and brightly-colored pebbles in the pools.

This serene view of water cascading from the golden peak of Ponmudi on the Western Ghats could be seen only after you take a long walk through the tropical woods. The 2-3 km trek begins downstream at the Kallar Village that takes around 1 hour. Reaching the place itself is a great pleasure as one has to walk through the trail, flanked by gigantic trees with their looping branches and roots forming a green canopy by themselves. For most of the trail, the stream keeps you company and there are multiple entry points to the waterbody, where you can take a dip but be careful as the rocks are very slippery. On the way to the waterfall, one would come across rare birdlife and many species of butterflies.

Visitors are barred from getting too close to the falls, but you can take in the beauty of the cascading water from a safe distance. The best time would be from mid-November to March when the sky is clear and the trail not too slushy. a distance of 16 km from Ponmudi Bus Station, Kallar Meenmutty Waterfalls is a magnificent waterfall located at Kallar village near Ponmudi, Kerala.
