GANDHI JAYANTI SARVODAYA 2K21

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in pre-independent India when the British rule had become ruthless and cunning, putting millions of Indians through immense pain. Mohandas studied law in England and practised it in South Africa for several years where he perfected his philosophy of 'Satyagraha' (truth) and 'Ahimsa' (non-violence).
When Gandhiji returned to India, he soon became active in the ongoing freedom struggle of India. He did not like that the great nation of India was a colony, ruled by the British, but he did not want a violent war to decide the outcome of the nation.
Gandhiji deeply believed in non-violence and he led the independence struggle of India with peaceful protests which were well thought out and incredibly effective. His firm implementation of his beliefs on such a massive political scale and its effectiveness awed the world. It's simple to say one is non-violent personally, but to apply such a thought to create major change at such a large level was unheard of before. Hence, he was given the title of Mahatma. Mahatma means great soul.
Gandhiji was one of the biggest contributors to India's freedom movement and his methods for achieving it shaped the country greatly. He is even called the Father of our Nation. That is why his legacy is honoured, not only in India but all over the world.

To honour gandhiji 152 nd Birthday social science option arranged a programme they named it as SARVODAYA 2K21.. through online they conducted several programmes .they also conducted an intercollege drawing competition and announce the winner on that day .

MONTREAL 2K21 OZONE DAY

 MONTREAL 2K21

Physical science and Natural science students unitedly conducted the programme on September 16 Ozone day  they named  it as MONTREAL 2K21.

World Ozone Day 2021: This year's theme for the International Day for the Prevention of the Ozone Layer is 'Montreal Protocol — Keeping us, our food, and vaccines cool.

This year’s World Ozone Day seeks to highlight that the Montreal Protocol does so much more, such as slowing climate change and helping to boost energy efficiency in the cooling sector, which contributes to food security.

World Ozone Day: History
On December 19, 1994, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed September 16 the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, commemorating the date, in 1987, on which the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was signed.

On September 16, 1987, the United Nations and 45 other countries signed the Montreal Protocol, on substances that deplete the Ozone layer. Every year, this day is celebrated as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone layer.

The purpose of the Montreal Protocol is to protect the Ozone layer by reducing the production of substances that are supposed to be responsible for Ozone layer depletion.

The Ozone layer is a piece of the atmosphere that has high ozone concentrations. Ozone is a gas that is made of three oxygen atoms, O3. Depending on where the ozone layer is, it can either harm life or protect life on Earth.

When some of his students and friends approached him and requested him to allow them to celebrate his birthday, he said, "instead of celebrating my birthday separately, it would be my proud privilege, if 5th September is observed as Teachers' day". ONAPULARI 2K21

 ONAM

Story goes that during the reign of mighty asura (demon) king, Mahabali, Kerala witnessed its golden era. Every body in the state was happy and prosperous and king was highly regarded by his subjects. Apart from all his virtues, Mahabali had one shortcoming. He was egoistic. This weakness in Mahabali's character was utilized by Gods to bring an end to his reign as they felt challenged by Mahabali's growing popularity. However, for all the good deed done by Mahabali, God granted him a boon that he could annually visit his people with whom he was so attached.

It is this visit of Mahabali that is celebrated as Onam every year. People make all efforts to celebrate the festival in a grand way and impress upon their dear King that they are happy and wish him well.

Onam is celebrated in the beginning of the month of Chingam, the first month of Malayalam Calendar (Kollavarsham). This corresponds with the month of August-September according to Gregorian Calendar.

Carnival of Onam lasts from four to ten days. First day, Atham and tenth day, Thiruonam are most important of all. Popularity and presentation of rich culture of the state during the carnival made Onam the National Festival of Kerala in 1961. Elaborate feasts, folk songs, elegant dances, energetic games, elephants, boats and flowers all are a part of the dynamic festival called Onam. Government of India has taken due notice of this vibrant and colorful festival. It promotes Onam internationally in a big way and celebrates 'Tourist Week' for Kerala during Onam celebrations. Thousands of domestic and foreign tourists visit Kerala to be a part of Onam

Due to COVID-19 we can't celebrate the usual Onam at our college but we celebrate it through online . We named it as Onapulari 2k21. In video presentation it mainly talk about dasapushpam mahatmyam .

Onam (Malayalam: ഓണം,  is an annual Hindu harvest festival celebrated in the Indian state of Kerala. A major annual event for Keralites, it is the official festival of the state and includes a spectrum of cultural events. Drawing from Hindu legends, Onam commemorates King Mahabali.Indian festivals are incomplete without food and one such festival is Onam. The harvest festival is celebrated with a colourful feast served on a banana leaf called ‘Sadhya’. Sadhya is basically the term coined for the feast that is a part of the 10th day of the annual harvest festival Onam, which is also called ‘Onam Sadhya’. The feast is known for its flavours and varieties of dishes.
